👋 Hi, I’m Kai – The Master Shaftsman behind Shaft Of Wit Comedy

I’ve been knocking around the comedy world for over 20 years, starting out as a semi-successful open-spot and compere across the South West. A couple of early highlights include:

• 🎤 2003: So You Think You’re Funny – Semi Finalist

• 🎤 2004: Chortle Student Comedian – Finalist

Eventually, I took a detour into teaching—spending years as Head of Drama and Theatre in schools across Somerset and Norfolk—while keeping comedy as a passionate side hustle. These days, I’m all in. Shaft Of Wit Comedy is my full-time gig, and I wear all the hats: booking acts, producing shows, promoting nights, designing the artwork, updating the website, and hosting the smaller gigs myself.

Shaft Of Wit is all about bringing big laughs to small places and showcasing the incredible talent from the UK comedy circuit. With over two decades of experience producing and promoting comedy and theatre, and another decade prior to that as an actor and mime artist, I aim to make every show feel warm, exciting, and packed with proper belly laughs.
